JJ Collins Marine Park is a beautiful little serene island in the middle of the Multnomah Channel about two miles upstream from the Gilbert River Boat Ramp and seven miles from the confluence of the Columbia River and the Multnomah Channel. JJ Collins Marine Park, also known as Coon Island, is a 23-acre island offering outstanding birding, a 1.5-mile nature trail and a restful lunch spot for boaters, complete with picnic tables and campsites. This island is only accessibly via boat but is well worth the trip for the relaxation that it provides. The park has transient moorage for visiting boaters and restrooms for visitor’s convenience. With a marine park there of course is accessibility for fishing, boating, swimming, and kayaking but there also is horseshoe pits and those gorgeous trails.
