Cathedral Park, named for the soaring gothic supports and towers of St Joseph bridge, during my recent visit the fall colors were is their full glory, offering a beautiful frame to appreciate the overhead St Joseph Bridge supports. Heading east across the bridge, we took our first two lefts and parked under the bridge at the start of the park. The initial view of multiple gothic arches of the bridge support seem to go on almost endlessly. We walk down the well maintained green grass and trails under beautiful mature trees displaying glorious fall colors the Willamette River, where you can look up to the bridge deck over 200 feet above the soaring east and west towers of the suspension bridge capped by aircraft lights over 400 feet above. Spectacular.

Cathedral Park Nature Patch, Completed in 2024, this floral masterpiece is composed of several natural garden spaces at the top of the park under the St. Johns Bridge. This horticultural and ecological showcase features a wholly unique arrangement of flowering native and ornamental plants as well as log and basalt elements that complement the beautiful bridge steps celebration venue, performance stage, and picnic nooks.

Located just under the Cathedral Bridge in the St. John’s neighborhood, the dock is the culmination of years of efforts to increase access to the water for one of the more industrial parts of the city.
